About In The North Consulting

In The North Consulting provides accessibility audits for Ontario municipalities. We help municipal teams understand their digital accessibility position and prepare for AODA compliance reporting.

Our methodology

We combine automated WCAG scanning tools (axe-core, Pa11y) with manual assistive technology testing using keyboard navigation and screen readers (NVDA, VoiceOver). Every finding is reviewed and validated by a human accessibility specialist before it reaches you.

Standards we test against

We audit against WCAG 2.1 Level AA — the current version of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. WCAG 2.1 is a strict superset of WCAG 2.0; meeting 2.1 AA satisfies both Ontario's AODA requirements (which reference 2.0 AA) and the federal Accessible Canada Regulations (which reference EN 301 549, incorporating 2.1 AA).

Data residency

All client data is stored and processed in Canada using Canadian-hosted infrastructure. We do not retain client data beyond the engagement period unless explicitly agreed.

Independence

We have no financial interest in any web development, CMS, or remediation vendor. Our assessments are independent.
